Magic 2-2-2-5
Finally my PC received first upgrade i.e high performance RAM. I have chosen 1GB of Corsair XMS Gaming memory. I took 2x512 TWINX1024-3200 XL PRO for dual channel configuration which auto configures to low latency timings 2-2-2-5 at DDR400.
Half-Life 2 now runs pretty smooth and most of the HL2's known audio shuttering is gone for me! HL2's Steam engine does need high performing machine after all.

o-n-e G-B of RAM! Invite me for dinner someday. No food, just half-life will suffice.
Apart from the games, are there any other apps that require this huge RAM ?
