GaTi - DG834GT Custom Firmware

I have give a name to the custom firmware I am producing for Netgear DG834GT. This helps in managing things. I am going call my custom firmware as GaTi (means speed). This is going to be GaTi-V0.1 release which is basically a bug fix release to the earlier.

  • GaTi-V0.1
    • Based on official V1.02.09 firmware
    • Includes UberGT ADSL Mod
    • Uses Squashfs 3.2r2 for the root file system (with ZLIB compression)
    • Only English web interface
    • Fixes in web interface for wrong Time Zone configuration
      • GMT+05:30
      • GMT-03:30
    • Usual DISCLAIMERS apply i.e use it on your own risk
UberGT mod has been tested on my modem so if in case it doesn't work for you let me know.

nice to know others are working with the 834gt, do you know if the block sites filter works with your custom version, as it doesnt appear to with the stock firmware?
hopefully someone else will leave some feedback, as i darent flash my router until it's verified...

Hi Stev-o,

It doesn't. busybox stuff is same as what comes with official firmware. I can include in the list things I will do if you want. Some one already asked for WOL. I will work on them based on peoples demand or my need.

Works a treat mate thanks, the router rebooted with a target noise margin set by me so the UberGT mods work as promised.

Thanks again.

Nice. I've included wol in a modified ubergt based firmware I made here:

Oops, I wish I could edit (I was in a hurry, sorry). The wol code can be compiled straight for the DG834GT with the toolchain. Or just extract the original wol source from http://dg834wol.altervista.org/ and use the wol.cgi from the GTXplode source.

Hope you finish this, it sounds like a great project. Thanks.

Just wanted to add another "Thank you". I'm using the firmware with the Be ISP in the UK and getting great speeds / stability on Annex M. I'd also like to request wget; and if possible tcpdump. Does the Netgear kernel support tun devices? It'd be great if it could support software VPN solutions such as tinc. Thanks again for all the work; looking forward to flashing the next update ;)

The exovii custom firmware for DG834G contain some intresting feature like the HTTPS access.
The normal HTTP access can expose you at very high risk when access the router from unsecured location.

http://xsquid.wordpress.com/2007/02/11/netgear-dg834-custom-firmwares/

Is possible import it to your custom firmware?

Bye.

I have installed your firmware in my router, it's work. But I cant access to the setting maybe because the old configuration was in Italian language. Also the recovery utility from Netgear doesn't work. What I can do now? Please help me

Ok, I solved! I make one hard reset at the power on, then the Netgear recovery utility restore the original firmware. I continue to follow your blog and your firmware modifies. I need only the WOL service, not more. If you can suggest one dg834gt firmware with WOL implemented....

Sir,

Thank you very much for your firmware. Do you have any guesses as to why the keyword/domain blocking function of the stock firmware does not work?

Wow, GaTi is absolutely spiffy stuff. Borrowing from the openwrt people, maybe you should start up a frappr page too. =D

e.g.

Thanks for your great wotk.
In my opinion the perfect firmware have to include :

1. target snr ( ubergt mod )
2. wol
3. autoexec custom script :
for instange the possibility to execute every 15 min ( via crontab modification file ) the connection and issue a router reboot in case of hibernate connection. this will be very usefully when you want to access to your Home PC after the wol of course in case of adsl line troubles .

Hi. Does your custom firmware for netgear DG834GT enables SNMP Agent ? I am hoping to use DataCapper - http://software.techrepublic.com.com/abstract.aspx?docid=331582

Thanks
