This weekend I spent most of my time on new PC. Finally it is up and running on Sunday. Configuration is as follows

1) Intel P4 HT 3.0GHz (800MHz FSB)
2) Asus P4C800 (Intel I875P Chipset) Mother board
3) Kingston 512MB Dual Channel DDR 400 RAM
4) Segate Serial ATA (SATA) 120GB Hard Drive
5) ATI Readon 9800 Pro 128MB Graphics Accelerator (Yet to arrive from US)
6) Usual CD-ROM Drive and DVD-ROM & CD-RW Combo drive.

Linux is not yet up and running as I am not getting time.

Man, it sounds awesome. I'm looking for a new home pc, so would you care to tell me why Intel? I see a 3GHz P4 HT costs 10400/- whereas an AMD Athlon 3000xp is 7950/- (also there is a motherboard price difference). And why ATI (not nVidia)?

The reason for choosing Intel over AMD is the FSB. You get 800MHz FSB in AMD only for 64bit processor. I certainly feel I am not yet up to 64bit. Also I don't find good performance mother boards for AMD. My Ausus mother board rocks after all it costed me 10k!

Coming to Graphics card, I have done extensive study for months to choose a card, which fits my budget. My budget is around 15k rupees. So my study finally showed me that ATI Readon 9800 Pro beats nVidia's cards in same category and it is cheaper. nVidia cards are costly without any reason (after all they are selling their brand and reputation).
